He is Risen

Hello Friends and Family!
I haven't had a lot of time to do an email in the past little while so I apologize. Also, our church and house do not have wifi, so uploading pictures is really hard so no footy this week:( just know that my cheeks are a little more chubby due the amount of rice I eat. That's all you need to know haha.

Anyways, this week was really exciting. We got to do a lot of service this week which was great! Service is one of the best ways to show your love for the members and people that you are teaching. This trust that we have built with members and people were teaching is largely due to the fact that we have tried to serve them so much! We helped the family that we are teaching paint some things for the citron bread cafe that they own. It was really great and the dad really appreciated it. We also cleaned up one of the yards of our member and also built him a fire pit with all the rocks from his yard! He is kinda lonely so we got to go on a walk with him after along the beach and talk with him. Really great to spend time with him.

We had really great zone conference this week! We hiked this really pretty mountain as a zone. For different legs of the hikes, we had different companions that we got to talk with and get to know. I was lucky enough to be paired up with a Korean that has already graduated college and served 2 years in the military. He is almost the age of my older brother. It was wonderful to see the deep insights he had on faith and how his testimony of the gospel came when he was converted in elementary school. The effect of righteous parents has positive consequences for their children that will last an eternity.

Funny story. We had a very nice testimony born by an old man in our ward this Sunday. He got up, read a poem about kissing, said AMEN, and then sat down. I asked him after why he did that, and he said that everyone was looking so gloomy and bored. My comp and I got a kick out of it, but I'm not sure how much the members liked it. Kind of glad that no one that we were teaching was there!

This week was a really special week for me. I had the opportunity to read the last two chapters of Mathew. In the two chapters, you learn about the unrighteous judgement of Christ, his suffering and Gethsemane, his crucifixion on Golgotha, his resurrection from the Garden tomb, and his ascension unto The Father. I am so grateful that at this time of year, I was really able to study, learn, ponder, and pray about whether these things are true. I know that Jesus is the Christ. I know that he suffered for our sins so we can become clean and stand before the bar of God spotless if we choose to. I know that because of His resurrection, all men will live again. Good and bad. SO grateful for Him and his personal love and understanding of me.

Have a great week!
Elder Meeks
