Funny Man Stuff

Hello Everyone!

This week has been such an amazing week! I am so grateful to be a missionary and so grateful for the protection that God gives missionaries that our doing his work. I still can't understand how to guys like elder Skousen and I safely travel, live, eat and do other stuff in a foreign country that we don't speak the language of! So crazy cool that we have so much help from the Lord and our inspired leaders and loved ones.

We saw some more little miracles at church this week. We have a less active family come which was super awesome. We have been trying to get them to come for a long time and then they finally came! Their son, who is not a member, came too. I can honestly say that he is one of my best friends in Korea and I live that kid so much. I really want to help him and just be his friend. Two of the people we are teaching also came to church and they both LOVED it! So so good. Our members are really prepared to fellowship and love the people we are teaching.

We had a really funny experience this week where we played soccer volleyball with a bunch of fire fighters at the fire station. They invited us to come play with them so we did! Playing in our missionary clothes was super fun and we got sweaty and stuff. We got a guys number from it and we are gonna go back!

Elder Skousen and I are staying together for another transfer!!!! Super happy about that because we get along super well and we work really well together. We are still working through the language struggles, but it's okay. We are also the co district leaders now, but there are only 6 people in our district so it's kinda funny. It will be a fun experience I think!

I just want to tell you guys that I am so grateful for the example of Jesus Christ. I am always trying to become closer to God and the best way to do it is to be like Jesus Christ. I have learned so much about Christ and the things he did in his life and I feel like that has armed me with the knowledge necessary to have a firm foundation of not blind faith! So cool! I know that this church is true and God loves us!

Great Week

I am feeling so creative right now with my email titles so here you go haha.

This week was a great week for sure. It ended up with me being a little sick, but hey there really isn't anything you can do about that when you are shaking hands constantly, riding nasty city buses, cleaning your church and your house, and so forth. Sounds like fun right??

We had a really good day on Tuesday this week. We had interviews with our mission president and teaching certification with his wife. They were both a lot of fun and I passed both. The fun thing was that it was in our house. They also did a thorough cleaning check, but they couldn't find anything that made them displeased so its alright! My mission president and his wife are super amazing people and really live the council they give me. We had lunch with them after which was really fun and then they also got ice cream. That night we helped one of our members with some English stuff he was working on and he was super grateful! To finish off the night, Elder Skousen and I got some hugs from some drunk doods! Wahoo!

We met with the amazing hong family this week. They were super fun and we had some yummy dinner with them. They also feed us dinner before we share our message. The little boys really like us and the dad does as well. The mom is opening up more and more and we hope to see her start progressing and getting more involved. They rejected our invitation to be baptized this week, but its okay. We are still loving them and we are just trying to help them understand that there already really happy life can be made more happy!

We are still playing soccer every morning with the grandpas in our area! They are super fun and we have started talking more with us. We are slowly trying to introduce them to the gospel, but it is hard. Really looking forward to continuing to build relationships with them that could lead to their lives being changed forever! It was a little miracle for sure when they let us play with them the first time.

Saturday we met a really nice Frenchman who paid for our taxi ride when we both missed the bus. Had a great discussion about the Godhead and what are beliefs are. Super grateful for the good men and women in the world today. Even though he denied our invitation, I am confident he will continue to do good in his life and continue to bless the lives of so many others. We taught some of our ward members English students how to play ultimate Frisbee which was really fun. We invited them to church and 4 of the kids came! They are all pretty young, but their parents let them come to church. We hope to have the parents see how happy there kids are and then also have the interest to come and see for themselves! Such a great opportunity to find and super grateful for member missionary work!

Something that President Nelson counciled the brethren in the session for the priesthood holders was being aware of our appearance and to look like and act like disciples of Christ. I came across the opposite of that in the book of Mormon. 2 Nehpi 13:9 says, "The show of their countenance doth witness against them,". It is so important to have the countenance of Christ! We need to have the spirit which means we need to repent sincerely daily which is the other thing our prophet counciled us to do! It all makes sense! I love the Gospel and I love this Church! Jesus Christ is my Savior and he is yours too.

He is Risen

Hello Friends and Family!
I haven't had a lot of time to do an email in the past little while so I apologize. Also, our church and house do not have wifi, so uploading pictures is really hard so no footy this week:( just know that my cheeks are a little more chubby due the amount of rice I eat. That's all you need to know haha.

Anyways, this week was really exciting. We got to do a lot of service this week which was great! Service is one of the best ways to show your love for the members and people that you are teaching. This trust that we have built with members and people were teaching is largely due to the fact that we have tried to serve them so much! We helped the family that we are teaching paint some things for the citron bread cafe that they own. It was really great and the dad really appreciated it. We also cleaned up one of the yards of our member and also built him a fire pit with all the rocks from his yard! He is kinda lonely so we got to go on a walk with him after along the beach and talk with him. Really great to spend time with him.

We had really great zone conference this week! We hiked this really pretty mountain as a zone. For different legs of the hikes, we had different companions that we got to talk with and get to know. I was lucky enough to be paired up with a Korean that has already graduated college and served 2 years in the military. He is almost the age of my older brother. It was wonderful to see the deep insights he had on faith and how his testimony of the gospel came when he was converted in elementary school. The effect of righteous parents has positive consequences for their children that will last an eternity.

Funny story. We had a very nice testimony born by an old man in our ward this Sunday. He got up, read a poem about kissing, said AMEN, and then sat down. I asked him after why he did that, and he said that everyone was looking so gloomy and bored. My comp and I got a kick out of it, but I'm not sure how much the members liked it. Kind of glad that no one that we were teaching was there!

This week was a really special week for me. I had the opportunity to read the last two chapters of Mathew. In the two chapters, you learn about the unrighteous judgement of Christ, his suffering and Gethsemane, his crucifixion on Golgotha, his resurrection from the Garden tomb, and his ascension unto The Father. I am so grateful that at this time of year, I was really able to study, learn, ponder, and pray about whether these things are true. I know that Jesus is the Christ. I know that he suffered for our sins so we can become clean and stand before the bar of God spotless if we choose to. I know that because of His resurrection, all men will live again. Good and bad. SO grateful for Him and his personal love and understanding of me.

Have a great week!
