Hello my beloved friends and family!
This week started off with a healing trip to a really famous Buddhist temple! It was so pretty and so cool! I was completely amazed about how a religion so old has preserved so many of it's traditions. I really feel like I understand more about the people of Korea. It was a lot of fun to see all the really old statues and stuff as well.
Sadly, one of my best friends on the mission and my district leader elder lee has to go home 6 months early. He tore a tendon in his ankle/foot which has made him not be able to walk. He needs to get surgery in america and so he is leaving tomorrow. Super sad to see him go. I was really hoping to be his companion someday. If all goes well, he might be able to come back onto his mission if he wants to.
I got to go on an exchange with elder Pak. He is ending his mission this next transfer so that is sad. I got to help him for over two hours with his college applications. It was really fun to be able to do that for him. He expressed how grateful he was for me later because his current comp didn't really care to help him with his applications which made it basically impossible for him to them. I learned from this experience that has we love and care about the things other people love and care about, we are one step closer to having a perfect Christ-like love. Super awesome right?
District meeting was super great. We had a beast awesome meeting solely focused on prayer and revelation. I got to speak on the importance of writing down impressions when you say prayers at night and in the morning. Time and time again my dad has told me how entitled I am to revelation. Then I read the recent talk by President Nelson on the importance of receiving revelation. I don't want to preach a sermon to you guys about prayer, but I know that each of you review that talk carefully and then apply it's principles, you will see a mighty change in your life!
This brings me to my thoughts this we about Patience. Living with a Korean missionary has been one of the hardest things I have ever done. At times, there is frustration in our companionship due to the lack of Korean skill that I have which makes him have to take the lead on many things. He feels the stress of this very much and a times it is overwhelming for him. I have had to be patient with myself as I learn line upon line, grammar form upon grammar form, and vocab word upon vocab word. Doing this takes time and it at times is frustrating how limiting a foreign language can be. In this regard, I have prayer fervently for patience. In regards to my companion, I have prayer fervently to have the patience not to snap back at a mean or frustrating comment. Only through prayer have I accomplished these things. I know that only through prayer can we receive the strength sufficient to deal with the hardships of life.
Nothing amazing happened this week, but I want to give you some highlights
1. I got a hug from a nice drunk man
2. I got my first door slammed in my face! Wahoo!
3. On Saturday ate so much pig that I started oinking in my sleep(jk)
4. Saw a really cool cat fight in the church parking lot and then broke it up with a nice big bucket of water.
Love you all and have a great week!
